Vermont-based OVR Technology presented OVR ION 3, a digital smell wearable that can be customised for VR headsets and other digital devices. The headset comes with an eight-aroma cartridge that may be used to create thousands of different, distinctive odours.

Interestingly, according to the company's official website, the ION Scentware cartridge creates digitally native smells to elicit various moods and emotions.

Digital experiences can be made even more emotional and immersive with this one-of-a-kind headset. The release of this wearable is planned for later this year. It is important to note that a previous version with a business focus that was used for fragrance marketing lets users smell everything from a romantic bed of roses to marshmallows being roasted over a fire at a campsite.

Additionally, the ION headset's unique ability to generate a variety of scents enhances the emotional and immersive nature of digital experiences.

In addition, ION can wirelessly connect to a smartphone or computer via Bluetooth, allowing users to experience multisensory experiences and explore the world of 4D.

"We are entering an era in which extended reality will drive commerce, entertainment, social connection, education, and well-being," states Aaron Wisniewski, CEO of OVR Technology.

He went on to say that "the quality of these experiences will be measured by how emotionally engaging and immersive they are." Their power is unmatched by scent."

VR Dating App

Soon, virtual reality experiences will incorporate the sense of touch. Another recent development, FireFlare Games, has revealed that once the technology is widely available in the market, the company will launch a virtual reality dating app that incorporates immersive sensations like touch.

However, opinions regarding this newest development are varying. While some claim that the aforementioned innovation is still a long way off from becoming a reality, others believe that this technology has tremendous potential, particularly when it is incorporated into online meetings so that attendees can actually experience something through the technology.
