Abed

Dota 2 is a tough game. It has a steep learning curve and can take quite a long time to even grasp the basics. How proficient or how good a player is at the game is determined by their MMR, or the Matchmaking Rating. The higher it is, the better. While most of the general population has an MMR anywhere between 2000-4000, a person isn’t considered good at the game unless they have an MMR of over 6000. MMR gives players the bragging rights and respect in the community, so even the best players try to increase it. It falls for every game you lose and increases for every game you win. A new record has been set when it comes to MMR by Abed, the Filippino superstar who is also the mid laner for EG.

Abed has hit 11000 MMR and has become the first player to do so. He was also earlier the first player ever to hit 10000 MMR. This new record comes 3 years after Abed hit 10k, back in June 2017. He had fallen off the 10K Ladder after a while but hit the mark again last year.

All of this can be attribute to the immense time he now has on his hands thanks to the coronavirus pandemic due to which he is stuck in his home country instead of being with EG in the US.
