Good things come in small packages; how true it is forAcer Aspire L310. It's
approximately Ten times smaller than a conventional desktop (3 liters to be
precise), making it ideal for places where space is at a premium. Even though
it's very small, it offers several expandability options. RAM for instance can
go upto 2 GB. It uses special slim form factor HDDs and you can put upto two
such drives of 200 GB each. Apart from the small size,
its noise level is also
minimal. On the OS front you can choose from Windows Media Center, Vista Home
Premium or Basic, depending upon your requirement. For connectivity it has got
several ports (for details see key specs in the box). Apart from the normal VGA
port it also has a DVI port that enables you to connect your system with LCD
monitors for enhanced digital viewing. It supports onboard graphics but is not
meant for high end gaming. Being a Media Center PC it has support for
multi-channel sound, video, and you can even add a TV tuner card. It also has a
built-in Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g), which has to be connected at the back. To save
space, a slot loading DVD writer has been provided. The only issue with this was
that it refused to load mini CDs (8 cm). We ran PC Mark05 test to check the
performance and it fared pretty well scoring 3538, which would have further
improved for sure if it had a better built-in graphics card.
Bottomline: A sure shot hit amongst style and space conscious people
