The new Acer Veriton 9100 is a combination of deep blue and white and looks good. It’s a P4-based machine–you can choose between 1.3, 1.4 or 1.5 GHz processors. The Veriton 9100 comes with 128 MB RDRAM that’s upgradeable to 512 MB. The standard hard disk is of 40 GB capacity–you could opt for other capacities. There’s a 4x AGP graphics card, and on-board Ethernet solution. The PC comes by default with a CD-RW (8x, 4x, 32x). You could also go for an additional 48x CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive. There are six device bays–4 external and 2 internal. The Veriton has one AGP and five PCI slots.
The ports at the rear to connect peripheral devices are color-coded and neatly arranged. Besides the regular parallel, serial and PS/2 ports, the Veriton comes with four USB ports (two in front and two at the rear), one RJ45 for LAN connection and a MIDI game port.
The Veriton 9100 also comes with a USB keyboard with keys to get you on the Net and launch your mail client. There are programmable keys and controls for volume and multimedia functions. The mouse is a USB two-button one with a scroll wheel. The machine supports 15”, 17” and 19” Acer monitors that offer crisp and clear display. But the system does not come with a set of speakers–that’s an extra, as is the Acer PC Camera. The Veriton comes bundled with Windows Me and PC-cillin anti-virus software.
The warranty is 1 + 2 years (1 year comprehensive, 2 years for the parts). A 3-year comprehensive warranty is also available, for which you’ve to shell out some more money.
The Veriton 9100, priced at Rs 75,000, is a good bargain for small and medium businesses that involve a lot of designing, graphics and multimedia.
