Air India SATS, Bangalore International Airport : Cargo Operations Intelligent System

The purpose of this project was to provide AI SATS with a cargo system to

support the cargo warehouse handling operations at Bangalore International

Airport Limited (BIAL). COSYS, Cargo Operations Intelligent System (COSYS), is a

comprehensive and dynamic cargo management system developed specifically for the

airfreight industry.

COSYS allows identification of cargo as international or domestic. Also the

application has security features built in to ensure that the users of the

system for domestic cargo do not tamper or amend any information of

international cargo. The system has another level of security which can be set

at airline or flight level to restrict access and thereby ensure security of

valuable, dangerous and precious cargo.

The calculation process, logic & basis of charges on storage, handling and other

services is subject to central & state government norms. With the ever changing
scenario & strong possibility of recurring changes in the charging mechanism the

application has been made configurable to allow the terminal operators to change

the mechanism without amending the application at the click of a button.

Benefits derived from this project were improved operational efficiency, better

monitoring and enhanced control of the end-to-end cargo handling operations. It

also resulted in improved staff productivity by reducing process redundancies,

thus resulting in enhanced customer experience. .
