Amazon Announces Next-Generation Kindle Fire HDX Tablets

Amazon has unleashed its better, slimmer and powerful upgraded Kindle Fire HDX tablets sized at 7 and 8.9 inch. After Google launched its slimmer and even more powerful Nexus 7 tablets earlier this year, the US-based retailer has joined the cue and introduced some feisty looking products that too at an affordable pricing.

The tablets sports display with better resolution and faster quad-core CPU with better RAM. Unlike its Kindle Fire HD models, Amazon seems to have learnt its lesson and in order to compete with major brands in the market, the company is looking to make sure it has the necessary ammunition to tackle competition and by the looks of its Amazon sure has a winner in its hands.

Talking about the 7-inch model, the tablet comes with 1920×1200 pixels display, packs 2.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 CPU with 2 GB RAM. The tablet features Wi-Fi (dual-band) front-facing camera and dual Dolby Digital speakers.

The 8.9 inch model on the other hand, HDX 8.9 sports an even better 2560×1600 pixels display, another feather in the cap for Amazon. It is also powered by similar Snapdragon 800 CPU with 2 GB RAM but apart from a front-facing HD camera, an 8 MP rear camera is the newest addition.

The 7 and 8.9 inch variants will be available in 16/32/64GB, priced starting from $229 and $379 in US respectively. The availability of these tablets in India are unknown but looking at Amazon's pro-active measure in the country these days, it could make its way well before end of the year.

In the meantime, you could also look the Kindle Fire HD tablets which are now available at discounted prices across the country.
