This is the latest version of PC-Cillin from Trend Micro for home and office users. It is probably the first anti-virus that also has a built-in firewall. Plus, it provides virus protection for PDAs. For this, it has a small program that can be installed on Palm OS, WinCE and Symbian EPOC. It looks for viruses when the PDA is synchronizing data with the PC, or accessing the Internet over a wireless link.

The firewall has several features like a trusted Internet sites list, port blocking and protection against malicious scripts. It also has an emergency locking system that disables all Internet activity if you suspect an attack. The anti-virus software uses a new technique called Macro Trap and Script Trap to block harmful scripts. It has a separate component called TSC (Trojan System Cleaner), which can be run separately if you suspect that your machine has a Trojan. The software’s interface is easy to navigate through. We tested PC-Cillin 2002 with some of the latest viruses and it
detected all of them. Plus, it keeps a log file of all viruses it was able to clean, quarantine, etc.
The bottom line: The best thing about this software is that it’s a firewall cum anti-virus. Add to that an affordable price of Rs 900, and you have a pretty decent package.
