Aorus RTX 2080Ti Gaming Box: World’s first liquid cooled external GPU

External graphics card boxes raise many eyebrows but are very convenient for people who need laptops due to their practicality and portability. Gaming laptops now days do have GPUs, but more often than not their performance is not on par with their desktop counterparts. Enter external Graphic card boxes, in which you can install the graphics cards and connect them to the laptop. Currently, only Gigabyte offers eGPU boxes with a GPU pre installed with their line of Aorus Gaming Boxes. Their latest offering is the Aorus RTX 2080Ti Gaming Box. 

What makes the Aorus RTX 2080Ti Gaming Box so special is that is the world’s first eGPU with liquid cooling. Naturally dude to the small and compact size of eGPU boxes, cooling was always a concern for the power hungry GPUs. Gigabyte counters that with their WATERFORCE liquid cooling system which also helps to keep your gaming sessions silent. 

The Aorus WATERFORCE is an all-in-one cooling system that incorporates a 240mm aluminium radiator and two 120mm fans along with a large copper plate which acts as a heat sink. The RTX 2080Ti graphics card included in Gaming Box is not overclocked and comes with the standard clockspeed of 1545MHz. 

Would I recommend it?  

The RTX 2080Ti alone costs upwards of Rs 90,000, so the Aorus RTX 2080Ti Gaming Box is definitely going to cost more than that. If you already have a laptop and want to make it into a beast of a rig, go for it. But keep in mind that the performance of the GPU will be bottlenecked even by the Thunderbolt 3 port. Another issue is that of the CPU, which can also bottleneck the card. 

I think it would be safe to assume that if you are willing to spend this amount of money, you are not just an average PC user. So I would recommend thinking before spending it on this product, as it would actually be better to build a new PC. But if the portability of a laptop is of paramount importance to you, or you already have a laptop with a great CPU, the AORUS TX 2080Ti Gaming box might be the product for you.
