New Update

This APC UPS has a distinctive design with the power outlets placed on its top as against the back as with most UPSs. The UPS has three surge protected plus battery backup outlets and one surge-protected only outlet. It also has surge protection port for your telephone line. The UPS connects to the computer via a USB cable and Windows XP automatically recognizes and configures it. After that, you can monitor various parameters like battery-charge level and configure your power settings like hibernating the system after a certain period of running on the battery. The bundled software also lets you do all this and some more advanced diagnostics and settings.

The UPS can easily handle 100% of its rated load. It gave a backup of 6 min 30 secs at 80% of its rated load (around 240 W). A typical P4 system with a 17" monitor would consume around 180 W of power, which means a backup time for a single system would be longer. The lower and upper switchover voltages were very good at 143 and 292 V respectively. The output voltage range lies between 204 and 251 V, which is safe. The switchover time was 10 ms, which is also safe enough for a PC.
