The mobile version of Apex Legends, which only recently made its debut in March 2022, will sadly be going down in May. Respawn Games, the studio that created the game, points to its use in offering high-quality, efficient gaming experiences.

The decision is made at a time when numerous tech companies are cutting back on expenses and divisions. Additionally, the game will be removed from webstores and all real-money in-app purchases will be disabled by the developers.

However, Apex Legends for PC will continue to be available for download from Steam and other platforms. There will still be a console version available.

EA take on shutting Apex Legends Mobile

EA says in a blog post that players can use the virtual money they already have in the game to buy in-app gear, but it won't give them a refund. The Apex Legends Mobile "will no longer be playable" when the company ceases all mobile platform operations on May 1.

In addition, the blog post states that players will not receive a refund for any remaining virtual currency or Syndicate Gold, and that for "other refund requests," players will need to get in touch with a third-party platform like Google Play or Apple App Store.

Although it has not disclosed any plans for the future, Respawn states that the developers remain enthusiastic about the mobile platform and "look forward to new opportunities to serve players."

The Indian market will continue to have fewer options for battle royale games after Apex Legends Mobile leaves the market. Popular battle royale games like PUBG Mobile, BGMI (battlegrounds mobile India), Garena Free Fire, and Fornite are still illegal in the country at the moment. On the Apple App Store and Google Play, players can still download COD (call of duty) for free.
