The second-generation Apple Watch Ultra, which will replace the Apple Watch Ultra introduced in September of last year, is reportedly in the works at Apple. The second generation Apple Watch Ultra's launch date has yet to be disclosed. According to a prior report, the Watch Ultra could be introduced in 2026. The names of the major component suppliers and some fresh information about the design of Apple's future smartwatch have been revealed by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

Apple might use 3D printing technology.

Kuo suggested that Apple might use 3D printing technology for the forthcoming Apple Watch Ultra a Medium post. The digital crown, side button, and action button for the wearable are reportedly among the mechanical components that will be 3D printed. Currently, a CNC (Computer Numerical Control) procedure is used to construct these components.

While 3D printing will also require the CNC process for back-end operations, he also stated it is claimed that this will result in cost savings for Apple. At the same time, the production process is likely to speed up. The post also discloses that Farsoon and BLT will be the printer providers for the 3D-printed mechanical parts for the 2023 Apple Watch Ultra, while IPG Photonics will be the exclusive supplier of laser components.

According to a recent report, the second edition of the Apple Watch Ultra may be the first product in its class to include the microLED capability. The rumours and conjecture about the smartwatch are still circulating online. MicroLEDs are one hundred times smaller than conventional LEDs or their components. They require more construction time and are logistically more challenging, which may impact the production process. Apple's products, including the iPhone, iPad, and Mac, are rumoured to get microLED displays.

Apple unveiled watchOS 10, its most recent operating system for Apple Watch models, on 5 June at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). A new Smart Stack that shows pertinent widgets, new watch faces, and other improvements is included in the watchOS release.
