The upcoming iPad might be a successor to the iPad mini in more ways than one, it emerges.

It is likely that the new Apple iPad – which is under production – would be lighter, thinner and sport a similar touch panel as in iPad mini.

It is also being reported that the next generation iPad will sport a film-based touchscreen, as the leaked designs indicated. Even it might get a similar design like the iPad mini, complete with a thinner case and thinner bezel.

In fact the earlier two versions were bigger built than their predecessor iPad 2, also because of the Retina display they were equipped with.

At this point in time, it is suggested that the upcoming iPad would also be priced the same as the fourth-gen version, have better battery life and might see the light of the day in September.
