This package is useful for people who aren’t very comfortable with English–all screens, menus, messages, hints, terminology, data entry fields, and reports–are available in both English and a regional language.

Arthalekha is a comprehensive accounting package with loads of features. There’s multiple user support, interest calculations, and a huge collection of predefined reports and voucher templates. You can also export reports to Word. You can also use the traditional Indian style of accounting (the Mahajani method). A very useful tool in the package is the F10 button, which toggles between the languages.

The program uses Automatic Transliteration–you can enter names, addresses and narration in one language and that’s automatically filled up in the corresponding English fields or vice versa. This is done using powerful rules and a dictionary-based transliteration engine. The interface has been kept very simple so that even an accountant new to computers, can operate it.
