Another entry into the 7-inch tablet form factor has arrived, with ASUS launching the 7-inch FonePad for sale in India for Rs. 15,999. Since it has a micro-SIM slot in it, users can utilize 3G as well as telephony from the device. This “phablet” runs Android 4.1 Jellybean. The tablet boasts a screen resolution of 1280*800 , with an Intel Atom Z2420  processor that has a speed of 1.2 Ghz. It also has RAM of 1 GB, and comes with internal storage of 8GB/16GB. Fortunately, this is expandable with a MicroSD slot that takes up to 32 GB. It has a 1.2 front camera for video calls, and a 3.0 MP rear camera capable of 720p HD video recording.

The phablet is capable of Wi-Fi, 3G and has Bluetooth 3.0. It has a width of just 10.4 mm, and weighs for 340g. Another advantage  Given the price tag of Rs 15,999, and given that there are several budget tablets in the Indian market for less than 10k, it will be interesting to see how the device will fare against the competition.
