This is a 17” flat panel display - TFT gaming friendly
LCD Monitor with 2.5 W built-in stereo speakers, having a maximum resolution of
1280x1024. The highlight of the product is a 3ms response time using an
anti-double-edge overdriving method with noise reduction in all gray-to-gray
levels. This LCD has five modes (Standard, Scenery, Gaming, Night View and
Theater) and three skin tones (Natural, Reddish and Yellowish) to meet the
requirements of different applications. We could switch amongst different modes
by pressing a single key-Hot key-present on the side of the LCD. ASUS claims
its average power consumption to be 48 Watt. ASUS has used the zero bright dot (ZBD)
policy for this LCD panel, which means that even if one bright dot is found in
the monitor, the users can exchange it for a new panel within one year of
purchase. The monitor has a maximum viewing angle of 130° vertically and 140°
horizontally. It has 25° (forward 5°, backwards 20°) tilting angles for
comfortable viewing. The monitor's height is fixed. The product ships with a
DVI-D (digital) and D-Sub (VGA) signal cables. This LCD also uses 'Color
Shine' technology, which provides 500 nits of bright and crystal-clear video
for everything from gaming and TV to blockbusters and graphics design. We used
the Nokia Monitor Test to test the LCD. If you observe some flickering while
using this monitor, just make sure that you use the right mode.
Bottom Line: Overall, this is
an LCD monitor that delivers good performance. Moreover, a response time of 3 ms
at this price makes it a good buy.
