The wait is over as Sony finally launched its camera-centric smartphone, the Xperia Z1 at Rs 44,990. At the launch we take a close look at Xperia Z1.

Design:

The Xperia Z1 designed around the same OmniBalance design principles as the Xperia Z. One noticable change is the auminium frame band that is seen around the edges of the phones. The Xperia Z1 comes with roughly the same dimensions as the Xperia Z but bit lighter and easier on the hand.

Same as we saw in Xperia Z, the Xperia Z1 also comes in with 5-inch full HD Triluminos capacitive display with a pixel resolution of 1080 x 1920 and a pixel density of 441ppi. This is similar to what was earlier seen in the Xperia Z 

Processing:

Much improved processing power as the Sony Xperia Z1 comes with Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 800 SoC. Packed into the CPU are four Krait 400 cores clocked at 2.2GHz. In addition, the smartphone comes with an Adreno 330 GPU and 2GB of RAM.

Camera:

The main feature of Xperia Z1 is its  20.7MP camera which is a major boost form 13MP. Packaged into a 8.5 mm slim smartphone. It combines a large 1/2.3" 20.7 MP Exmor RS for mobile image sensor, Sony's award-winning G Lens and intelligent BIONZ for mobile image processing engine. Also you will get many innovative Sony camera Apps which are integrated into the camera viewfinder, making them all the more accessible too.

The phone also comes with 16GB of internal flash memory expandable up to 64GB via a microSD slot.

The Sony Xperia Z1 will be available in black, white and purple avatars and will hit stores today.

And it doesn't end there. Sony has also put in a range of camera applications for its latest offering. These include Social Live for broadcast videos live from the Xperia Z1 to Facebook and the likes and Info-eye for information on landmarks or books or food after clicking a snap of the same. Another feature, Timeshift burst, will allow Xperia Z1 users to take 61 images with just one click of the shutter. Users will have the option of scrolling back and forth to find the image of their choice. The last on the list is AR effect, which gives a selection of customisable animations to create pictures using the company's Smart AR augmented reality technology. The company has even built in an open SDK for the smartphone's camera for other developers to use its features in third-party apps.
