AWS maintains its top position

When we asked professionals why they chose their current cloud provider, AWS and Microsoft Azure (which came second) were popular due to their well-known brands and high-quality products.

Cloud adoption has been on the rise across various industries, with an increasing number of companies leveraging cloud services to streamline their operations and improve their overall efficiency. In 2022, a staggering 94% of companies have reported using cloud services in one way or another.

This trend is expected to continue in the coming years, with cloud computing playing a crucial role in enabling businesses to transform for the better. The flexibility, scalability, and cost-effectiveness offered by cloud computing has made it a popular choice for companies of all sizes and across various industries.

Nothing has changed in the last year when it comes to cloud service provider popularity. AWS remains the leader, with Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud trailing behind. It appears that history has repeated itself.

In the Familiarity Index, AWS received the highest score of 98%, and was loved by most respondents. It maintained its reputation with the same score of trust (98%) as last year. Microsoft Azure remained the first runner-up with a score of 96%, higher than last year's score of 86%. Google also gained better shares this year at 68% compared to last year's score of 51%. IBM scored 45%, followed by Oracle at 41%.

All users could spontaneously recall both AWS and Microsoft Azure.

All of our respondents were able to recall Microsoft Azure and AWS spontaneously (100% recall rate), indicating that nearly all professionals are aware of both brands. Google was also recognized by most professionals (88%), followed by IBM (81%) and Oracle (76%).

When asked about the brand they currently use, AWS won once again, capturing 34% of the share. However, Microsoft Azure came in a close second with 30%, followed by Google at 17%, IBM at 9%, and Oracle at 8%. This data indicates that although the top three players continue to dominate, there is intense competition among other brands vying for position. It remains uncertain as to who will emerge as the market leader in the near future.

Microsoft Azure is well-positioned for the future, with most respondents expressing interest in using it going forward. Amazon Web Services (AWS) came in second in terms of future preference, while Google, IBM, and Oracle appear to be gaining more customers.
