New Update

Airports are the key spots in hindering terrorist activities. BIAL, being a

large unit, has critical tasks like imaging and surveillance to be carried out

on 24x7 basis. Their old system was slow and also lacked many new capabilities.

BIAL ICT is an ICT service provider in airport for all internal and external

stake holders for all ICT services. The hurdles that were faced included

carrying out compatibility checks, with niche and legacy applications and in

some cases they had to wait for updated versions of those software.

BIAL ICT leveraged Microsoft Deployment Toolkit 2010 and Windows 7 deployment

features such as Dynamic Driver Provisioning, Multicast Multiple Stream

Transfer, etc, to install Windows 7 images to users' computers. Users' profiles

data was migrated using User State Migration tool (USMT). ICT also implemented

Windows 7 AppLocker to restrict users from executing unwanted & unknown

programs. Application Locker policies were deployed using Windows 2008 R2 Group

Policies. Windows 7 BitLocker encryption is being used to secure users data in

hard drives and BitLocker—To- Go for securing data in removable storage devices.

ICT is testing Win 2008 R2 Direct Access in order to leverage the VPN reconnect

feature of Win for BIA stake holders. Through this implementation, BIAL has

enhanced airport security and reduced costs by 25 percent.
