New Update

The LCD monitors' market is seeing a major slash in the prices. We tested nine 15" LCD monitors in April 2004, in the price bracket of Rs 23,000. This time it's a 17" BenQ model with speakers and a DVi input for about Rs 25,000 that will be making an appearance in the market in April this year. And soon we shall have

sub-Rs 10,000 priced LCD monitors.

When FP71E is launched it should be one of the best-priced LCD monitors, because of the good mix of performance and features it offers. The only thing that could go against though, is the placement of its buttons. They are placed at the bottom of the monitor, which can be a bit of a problem to use. It may take a while before you get used to operate the oddly placed buttons with ease. This feature, however, may give a very sleek finish to the monitor. And finally, we could do with a volume control key too. In our performance tests, the monitor provided a good viewing angle of more than 165º without any distortions.

The Bottom Line: With small size and built-in power supply, this 17" can really reduce the space needed on your desktop for a monitor. Whether you'd like to decorate your front office with it or give it to your Web designers, it's a well-priced monitor.
