I had an interesting opportunity to go through the Book “ Software Quality Assurance, Testing and Metrics” by Dr Anirban Basu. I had met Dr Basu in some conferences on the Subject and was aware of his research interests in the area. Even then, I was very pleasantly surprised in the scope of subject coverage while reading the book. The book, by and large covers the subject of Software Quality Assurance quite in depth. More importantly, the focus is on Industry Practices, which is invariably missing even amongst most teachers, what to talk of students. Industry Practices have been seamlessly integrated with academic models and nicely illustrated with the help of examples to bring home the concept.

Review questions at the end of each chapter have been very carefully chosen and will surely help the reader. Similar is the case with objective type questions and Multiple choice questions for each chapter at the end of the book. The utility of the book will further increase if the author can include the topics of Software Costing & Software Reliability – as it is impossible to delink these parameters from any realistic Software Quality Assurance study. May be the author can consider it in the next edition after testing the hypothesis on a larger sample of the readers.

The contents of the book will be extremely useful to the software practitioners, particularly in their early careers in addition to the students in the disciplines of Computer Science, Computer Engineering and Computer Applications at undergraduate & postgraduate degree levels. I once again complement the author and wish him success in his future endeavors also.
