Meters being installed inside the premises of BSES 'spower consumers, BSES
personnel had to wait for entry pass to take the meter readings. That was a
tedious job for BSES to amass meter readings of scattered consumers across
Delhi. Similarly at Grids, BSES needed exact data of energy flow into the
network for Energy Audit and Demand forecasting purposes. To do away with the
hectic job, BSES has implemented the Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) project. The
project uses CDMA technology to remotely read meters of consumers as well as
Grids. A CDMA modem has been deployed at every consumer/ Grid end and by making
a call to this mo dem, meter reading is taken. With this implementation, process
of taking meter readings has become much faster and has also reduced the time
for billing. Operators are immediately alerted through alarms incase of breach
of any parameter. Data of all grids are now available at a single place, through
which MIS reports on System outage, Daily Peak loads etc. can be easily
generated. BSES plans to include more than 23 lakh consumers under this project
in future.
