Bubble-Jet Photo Printer: Canon i990 Photo Printer

This is a bubble-jet photo printer for professional use. It has two USB ports (v2.0 and 1.1), so that older PCs that don't have USB 2 can also use it. The printer supports PictBridge-compliant digital cameras to directly print images without having to transfer images first to the PC. 

Besides CMYK, it has a cartridge each for photo magenta, photo cyan and red colors. It also ships with an additional photo-paper tray for smaller sized stock.

Coming to performance, the i990 gave impressive results in both graphics as well as text printing in fine mode. It printed a full-page color graphic in excellent print quality in just 2 mins and 36 secs. The same goes for a monochrome full-page image, which it printed in just 1 min and 26 secs. On the text front, the smallest readable font size is two without any jaggedness. To print a five-page text document, it took 12 secs to print the first page and 7 secs for subsequent ones. Line art and curves printing is also excellent. The printer has a rated black-print speed of up to 16 ppm and color-print of up to 12 ppm. Like all inkjet printers, here too, our tests revealed a lower 7.5

ppm.
