Camlin Ltd is one of the most recognised stationary and art brands in India.
They have implemented SAP for integrating all their modules and consolidating
data. The reasons that lead to the deployment of the project included lack of
proper connectivity between branch and head office. They used to get reports
from their branch offices in CD formats and most of the times there were cases
of data corruption. This resulted in delays in generating consolidated stocks
and sales report. Another major issue they faced was that sales department was
on FOXPRO and rest were on MOVEX, and there were no integration between the two.
Besides, non-availability of information on any given time led to heavy
inventory, heavy debtors outstanding. The major challenges they faced after the
implementation of this project was the acceptance of the new software by the end
users. They had to demonstrate them the entire process and teach them benefits
of the new software. Among the key technical challenges were finding the right
ISP, providing uninterruptible hardware/connectivity support, getting the right
supplier for our SMS, E-mail integration with SAP and so on.

Among the benefits are branches and head office are now connected and there
is less likelihood of data getting corrupted. They can easily generate reports
with less time. Plus, one can get all reports via email, MIS on SMS. They have
also implemented online sales order booking through dealer, which has reduced
the processing time by 3 days from 4 to 5 days. They have implementated DR site
also.
