In the era of MFDs and with a price tag of 21k, this laser printer is meant
for personal or small office use. The printer comes in two versions with and
without network connectivity(LBP-5050 and LBP-5050N). The one we received in our
labs was without network intercase switch. This color printer uses Cannon
Advanced Printing Technology (CAPT 3.0) with Hi-SCoA for fast printing and comes
with zero-warm up time that means just press a button and print. This is due to
On-Demand Fixing technology that uses ceramic heater. Other worth mentioning
features include built-in 16 MB RAM, two paper feeds, tray cassette capable of
holding 150 A4 sheets and USB 2.0 support. This printer can print up to 600x600
DPI resolution for mono and up to 9600x600 DPI for color print.

To test this printer, we carried out performance tests in our labs and we
found out that it took under 5 seconds to boot, and we were able to print a A4
border less photo in 36 seconds. Besides, we were able to print 12 monochrome
and 8 color pages per minute. Xerox Phaser 6180 (reviewed in October 2008)was
able to print 26 monochrome and 10 color pages per minute, but for this
performance you have to pay double (Rs 44,595). Quality of print for both color
and mono was excellent with color printer showing excellent details and
sharpness.
Bottomline: Owing to its excellent print quality, this one is for
individuals who have an eye for detail.
