6D and the fully-articulated touch-screen display of the 650D. While the body style and construction are almost the same as the EOS 60D, there are quite a few changes in the controls. The EOS 70D body is very much like

the EOS 60D, but smaller and mostly plastic. The controls are placed in the same areas. The Canon EOS 70D is built with a polycarbonate body around an aluminum chassis and weighs just 755g.

Features and performance

In EOS 70D they have integrated the articulating screen with a high resolution glare-free display, a quick control screen and touch screen functions make the EOS 70D easy to use as you can change all the key settings very quickly and easily through the well-designed menu display. The touch sensitive screen also lets you select focal points during video recordings or in the Live view mode by tapping the screen to select focus area. The control buttons are same as its predecessor but a new addition is the dedicated focus area expansion control located between the front dial and the shutter release button. On the upper right side is an LCD information screen which offers the same details as the 60D with the addition of a new WiFi status icon. The key feature of 70D is its new Dual Pixel CMOS AF.

The Dual pixel CMOS AF:

Each pixel is made up of two photodiodes, and each of these function as a pair for phase difference autofocus during live view shooting and video recording. This is the first time that each pixel is containing an element of phase difference AF as well as for imaging capabilities. With previous DSLR technologies, when you record video or capture images using Liveview mode, the ability to autofocus is drastically reduced, and tracking a subject (necessary for continuous autofocus) is not possible. With Dual Pixel CMOS AF, autofocusing takes a significant technological leap and removes this hurdle allowing you to simply frame your subject while recording videosand let the EOS 70D's autofocusing system attain and maintain sharp focus automatically.

We tested the EOS 70D with the EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM kit lens, which has versatile focal range and image stabilisation. We are really impressed with its 19- Point Auto focus system, and you can cycle through all the autofocus points selections, from a single AF point, AF point groups, to automatic selection by the camera. The EOS 70D can achieve a fast 7 frames/second shoot rate for up to 65 JPEG or 16 RAW files burst, which is blazing fast for all the spots and wildlife photographers. The 70D's video autofocus was the most responsive we've ever seen from a large-sensor camera. You can chose from 24, 25 or 30fps capture at 1080p, all very promising for serious video production.
