This printer is ideal for the workgroups with huge printing requirement. Here we discuss the features and performance of the multifunction device.

This printer has a 5.7” TFT touchscreen which lets you control and cancel the printing, adjust paper size, copy, and scan without using the computer. With 1.2 GHz of CPU, it comes with a 2GB of memory and maximum paper capacity of 2000 sheets, which includes 350 standard and 550 x 3 cassettes optional. It’s scanner supports a maximum resolution of 600 dpi. Once scanned, you can send the scanned copy through email. It supports various file formats like TIFF, JPEG, PDF. You can directly scan using the touchscreen panel provided and save the scanned copy in removable USB device. With a maximum printing resolution of 1200×1200 dpi, it offers a clear and sharp print quality. Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE C2020 has also a magnification option, which can magnifies the print out. In this complete process, you do not have to use the computer. Capable of printing A4 and A3, this printer can yield 23,000 and 43,000 black and white pages using toner and drum respectively and 19,000 and 36,000 color pages using the same. It detects the paper size automatically, which reduces the paper jam due to misfeeds, giving hassle free printing. It also has an USB 2.0 interface. Using an external USB removable media device, you can print the images or save the scan in it. But to print the documents or PDF files you need to install Direct Print Kit and Hard Disk Drive which will cost you an additional Rs 25,200 and Rs 40,500 (80 GB HDD) respectively. By making it optional, Canon lets you save money if you do not need this feature.

To test this printer we installed it over the network on a Windows 7 Ultimate (32-bit). The installation was easy and printer was detected automatically over the network. In the normal mode, it took 8 seconds to print the first page. Also a page containing text and graphics took 8 seconds. To check the speed of the printing we printed 30 pages and it took 1 minute and 40 seconds to print them. To save the papers, Canon imageRunner also supports duplex printing. To check the duplex printing speed, we printed 30 pages and it took 1 minute 41 seconds to print those pages. We printed all these pages on A4 size paper sheet. We also tried to print the images. We printed an image on A4 size glossy paper and it took the printer 9 seconds to print the image. Image quality was really good but it took 41 seconds in warming up.

This printer is a good choice for large workgroups, where printing is done in bulk. Once installed, you do not have to worry about changing the toner for long.

Bottomline: With a huge amount of paper yield and clear and sharp quality, this printer is the right choice for medium and large workgroups.
