If you’re looking for a personal desktop laser, then here’s a good candidate. This printer has both a USB and parallel port interface, which can be connected to different PCs and used simultaneously. The maximum resolution supported by the printer is 600x300 dpi. Its overall performance is pretty good–it prints text clearly with the minimum readable font size being point 2. When we tested it, it took 18 secs to print a single sheet of paper, for both multi-page document as well as multiple copies of the same document. Subsequent sheets took about 7 secs each to print. A 30 page document printed at an average speed of about 8 ppm, which is as per its rated. Line art printing, too, is smooth and detailed, while grayscale graphics printing is smooth without any banding.

You can choose from two output paper paths, called face up and face down. One can be used for printing single sheets, while the other can hold up to 100 sheets. There’s no output tray to hold the paper from the single sheet path, which would have been a good thing to have. Overall, it is a good choice for personal desktops or small workgroups, as the printing quality is good, and the price reasonable.
