For the longest time, Counter-Strike ruled the world of competitive gaming and gaming in general. The franchise made sure to come up with new changes and editions of the game with improvements, new weapons and mechanics. The game has grown with generations and is still seeing spurge in its player base. However, the fact that the game had some limitations does not change.
It is a 5v5 game where only 2 teams can play in a match. This made it easier for players to get a grasp on the game fast. The competition was and still remains very stiff but getting an understanding of the game is not very difficult. All the maps in the game are very restricting too, and it is not a free-roam game. Since it is a team game, the dependency on others also increases and one cannot carry a team on the back every single time.
Even franchises like Call of Duty and Battlefield followed the same pattern in their multiplayer modes. All of this changed with the rise of battleroyale. It was a game mode that allowed you to roam around freely on a map, spot enemies and take them down from a distance without getting spotted. These changing trends in gaming were capitalized on majorly by the PUBG corporation. PUBG PC and PUBG PC LITE brought introduced gamers to a mode that allows them to be creative with their ideas and come up with their own tips, tricks and efficiencies. Games like Ring of Elysium at the same time as PUBG but the level of player base PUBG was able to create was never seen before. This pattern and idea was adopted and modified by multiple other developers. These new ideas and modifications were seen as Fortnite, another very popular battleroyale game, Apex Legend, etc. Even franchises like Call of Duty came out with their own version of battleroyale in the form of CoD WarZone.
The battleroyale mode changed the way the game was played. There were vehicles involved, terrains and multiple other challenges than just enemies. Enemies are just an added threat. This also allowed players to be on their own by playing solo. Most of the battleroyale games like PUBG kept the classic Team Death match mode alive making it a complete game.
But as the saying goes, nothing lasts forever, the glory of battleroyale had to come to an end. The glory did not actually come to an end but was surprisingly overshadowed by games like Among Us and Fall Guys. These games were based on the social deduction type of gaming. Both these games are multiplayer but every player is for themselves. However, the surprising thing is that these games are not very demanding. Both Fall Guys and Among Us are very light games and can run on most systems. This is one of the major reason behind these games shooting to fame as they launched.
Being low on graphics does not mean that they are not fun or do not look good. The games are extremely fun to play and when 10 players are trying to find the Imposter in Among Us, or a bunch of players are trying to cross obstacles in Fall Guys, it becomes a fun-filled experience.
Transitions like these make the community believe that there is no end to innovation and that graphics are not the only thing that matter.
