Chat Clients

Yahoo recaptures the top billing it lost to MSN Messenger last year. Rediff continues to be at number three and Indiatimes messenger at number four. 

This year we asked two questions to the respondents: first, do you use a chat client and, second, which one would you use in the immediate future. Both questions were administered to all the respondents in the personal category. As many as 82 percent of the respondents said they use chat clients. Of those who said no, an overwhelming number comes from the South, which is supposed to be a more computer-savvy geography. We are not clear why this is so. 

Compared to last year, MSN has seen a reduction in indexed score by half. Of the remaining two, Indiatimes messenger has been improving its indexed score over the years; it entered the Users' Choice Club last year with a score of 14. This year it has achieved 23.
