As per the formulation of CLP India in 2008, a comprehensive & systematic
analysis was done on the business alignment. This was all due to the existing
plant centric IT Strategy developed in 2006 and was not sufficient to support
the growing business needs. Some of the objectives of the strategy development
are categorized in the following areas; general, reducing business operational &
project delivery risks. One of the major challenges that they faced was the gap
in understanding localization/statutory requirements, since the inhouse IT Team
was based at Hong Kong. Some other challenges faced by them includes migration
and data cleansing for SAP MM, delay of the add-on product because of the
approach & proper project management of the supplier for implementing 'Optisutie-SAP'.
With the implementation of SAP HR, ESS, FICO and MM, using MPLS technology, they
established India in-country and group network connectivity. They also launched
CLP India public website. Using OCS technology, email consolidation along with
UC & collaboration was also facilitated.
Among the benefits include it provides improved decision support, helps in
minimizing the total Cost of Ownership. Moreover, it also provides an Office
Communicator comprising of email, IM, document sharing that is fully operated &
supported by CLP group.
