New Update

Toshiba is expanding its wings in the market with its new tablet device powered by Windows 8.1. Earlier this year, the company announced Encore 2 range of tablets and now it has unveiled the Encore 7, aimed at budget tablet users. The tablet could be hitting shelves in the coming months across the globe.

The Encore 7 tablet comes with a 7-inch display with 1024x600 pixels resolution and runs over Windows 8.1 OS. It is equipped with a 1.3 GHz quad-core Intel Atom Z3735 processor, 1GB RAM, has 16GB inbuilt storage that can be expanded, and front camera (unspecified megapixels).

Toshiba's Encore 2 comes in 2 sizes; 8 and 10-inch screen, with 1.2 MP front webcam and 5 MP rear camera with full-HD video recording capability. Both boast 1.3 GHz Intel's quad-core Atom Z3735F processor and offer 32 GB inbuilt storage.

In addition to Encore 2, another Android 4.4 KitKat powered tablet was announced by the company which is priced at $109.99 (approx Rs 6,500) that could be available by somewhere around July.

In our experience, 8 inch form factor does not translate into smooth functioning of Windows 8 which is why a 10 inch size makes more sense and more brands should look at devices in that range.
