New Update

Tonido is a software that lets you convert your PC or media center into a

server which will have an online jukebox, a picture viewer, a personal note

keeper, an email client, an online desktop share, a web share, etc directly

running from your PC. All you need is a broadband Internet connection, an

Internet modem or router which has port forwarding support, either manual or

UPnP. Tonido can be downloaded for Windows, MAC, and Linux flavors such as

Ubuntu and its derivatives, and Debian. You can even convert the DEB file to RPM

by using Alien and install it on Open SUSE. However, no support is available for

RedHat and Fedora. Once downloaded, the installation is a cakewalk. Just one

click will do the rest. Once installed, a webpage with the address

127.0.0.1:10001 will open. This is for both access and configuration.

This is the login page. Here,

you need to create a profile by clicking on 'create profile' button. A

wizard will guide you through the rest of the process.
Give a name to the profile. The

software will create a link to Tonido's website using this name. This link

will be used for accessing your machine.
Once the profile has been

created, login to Tonido to do the rest of the configuration tasks, such as

port forwarding, etc.
After you have logged in, click

on the setup link just next to your profile details. This will start another

Follow the wizard till it asks

you to 'enable remote access.' Next, click on the check box to enable the

remote access link.
To make sure users land on the

correct system, you have to do port forwarding in your router. If your

router supports UPnP, then it's as simple as clicking on Next in the wizard.

Now you can access the site

through the Tonido link. Go to the applications section and you will see all

the applications installed in Tonido.
Using the Photos option in

Tonido, you can select a folder with pictures on your system and share it

with the outside world by publishing it through the link.
For publishing photos, you get

all standard features such as categorizing, commenting, rating, etc, which

you get on any public photo sharing website.
A very nifty calendaring and

task Management feature provided by Tonido. It can be accessed and updated

from anywhere.
