Corning Gorilla Glass 3 with NDR, is more likely to withstand the deep scratches and cracks that ultimately could cause glass to fail. It offers the same durability and thinness as Corning Gorilla Glass 2, but offers improvements in the glass composition at the atomic level. Improvements include scratch resistance, reduced scratch visibility and improved retained strength if a scratch occurs. Unique at both the chemical and processing level, this glass is something only Corning can offer customers. In comparison with Gorilla Glass 2, Gorilla Glass 3 with NDR improves scratch resistance: 3x improvement in the force required to cause lateral cracking

This product combines the renowned benefits of Corning® Gorilla® Glass technology, including durability, scratch resistance and toughness, with a built-in antimicrobial property to last the lifetime of the display cover glass.
The technology in the core of the glass formulation is based on ionic silver, which is embedded in the glass forming a reservoir of ionic silver that makes it long lasting with no degradation of antimicrobial activity through the lifetime of the device.

New product extensions include:

Antireflective and Easy-to-clean Technology to improve device readability in bright sunlight.

3D-Shaped Gorilla® Glass to support the emerging demand for 3D curved glass for smartphones and wearable devices.

Corning® Gorilla® Glass NBTTM to help protect touch-enabled notebook displays from scratches and other forms of damage that come from everyday handling and use.

“We are pleased to announce the launch of Corning® Gorilla® Glass 3 with Native Damage ResistanceTM in India. With the proliferation of touch-enabled devices including smartphones, tablets and notebooks, India is an important market for Corning. In addition to improved scratch resistance, Gorilla Glass 3 maintains the same thinness and optical clarity of previous versions, allowing for slimmer and sleeker devices, brighter images, and better touch sensitivity,” said Amit Bansal, President, Corning Technologies India.

“Corning is a world leader in glass innovation, and we are dedicated to using our expertise in glass science to solve our customers’ toughest problems, said James E. Hollis, Director, Sales and Applications Engineering, Corning® Gorilla® Glass. “With Gorilla Glass 3, we challenged our research teams to develop a way to make cover glass even less susceptible to scratches and other damage.” “Corning’s Antimicrobial Gorilla® Glass inhibits the growth of algae, mold, mildew, fungi, and bacteria because of its built-in antimicrobial property, which is intrinsic to the glass and effective for the lifetime of a device,” said Dr. Joydeep Lahiri, Director, Division Vice President and Program Director, Specialty Surfaces. “The glass has already been tested with numerous manufacturers for various applications, and high-volume production capability has been demonstrated.”
