CPU: 35 Years of Evolution

The architectures of CPUs have changed over time. Year-on-year development enhances the computing, graphics, multitasking and overclocking capabilities. In the past 35 years, many things have changed including the evolution of mobile processors. It’s not only about PCs and Laptops, now cell phones are also equipped with powerful CPUs, turning the handheld device into a smart machine to compute.

We have listed some major milestones/events in the history of CPU, including release dates for many of the popular and widely-used computer processors. We have not covered all of them, as we wanted to frame the developments in the past 35 years.
