Dasan’s Vertex 2502

The Vertex 2502 is the latest addition to Dasan’s range of Vertex 2500 routers, aimed at small and medium businesses. The router has two WAN ports for connecting T1/E1 links, and supports HDLC, PPP, and Frame Relay protocols for data transmission. Routing protocols supported include RIP v1&2 (Routing Information Protocol), OSPF (Open Shortest Path First) and BGP (Border Gateway Protocol). It has a 10/100 Mbps Ethernet port for the internal LAN. Another serial port is available to hook up a console for configuring it. It can be configured through Telnet, TFTP, or even FTP.

The product ships with a detailed operations manual, a power cable, a WAN link cable, and a terminal console cable. It’s easy to install and configure. You need to connect the router’s console port to the serial port of the PC, and start the terminal

console to start configuring. To make your configuration easy, the router comes with an ezsetup script that prompts you to enter a few details for configuration. The router’s powered by a 50 MHz Motorola XPC860T microprocessor, has 4 MB of flash ROM that’s expandable to 8 MB, and 16 MB DRAM that’s expandable to 32 MB.

The router has a built-in DHCP server and supports some basic packet filtering and NAT, which are useful in setting up a firewall. Price: Rs 65,000 with one year warranty
