XGenPlus version 21 is a mail server with a web-mail client from Data Infosys. One of our jury members, Govindarajan felt that apart from the email tracking tools used for bulk mailing, the project isn't different from existing Linux-based collaboration solutions such as Zimbra and hence doesn't score high on innovation. Since the core of the software (the mail server) is command-line-based, even though allowing web-based configuration, the project could not be rated on user experience in order to be fair. Support for virtual storage and behind-the-scenes compression of image attachments are seen to be features that are intended to save on bandwidth. K. R. Lal from Luxor, who is a customer for XGenPlus, said that they have been using XGenPlus since the last 5-6 years in their datacenter which has about 1000 servers. They said that they are satisfied by the product, which provides very good online support. The biggest factors in moving to XGenPlus, Lal said, were the anti-spam features and support for multiple domains, besides the price. When asked why the web-mail client does not support Opera yet, Anil Sharma from Data Infosys Limited said that support for the same was yet to be developed.
