New Update

The Dax LAN Extender allows you to connect two remote office networks over a standard two-wire telephone cable. This can work for a campus area network where you have scattered buildings and need to network them . It cuts the cost of using expensive leased lines, laying underground fiber, or using modems for remote access. All you need is a LAN Extender in both locations and connect them with a cable. The product works on DSL technology, and can connect two locations up to 6.7 kms apart.

Setting up the connectivity is easy. It has one RJ45 10 MBps Ethernet port to connect to your local network, and one RJ11 port to connect your WAN link. It supports Ethernet/IP/PPP over ATM, and PPP over Ethernet. Configuration has a Web-based interface. You can check the status of your WAN/LAN links, and even define routing tables from the Web interface according to your needs.

The product can be used either as a router or a bridge on your network. You can even assign a virtual server for hosting Web services on a public IP. We tested the product by connecting the WAN link using the IP over ATM protocol. Connectivity is good and the device is available with throughputs ranging from 192 KBps to 2.304

MBps.

Last year a similar product cost Rs 36,000 per box. The price has halved since then. The price along with the features and available bandwidth, make it a very cost-effective choice for remote connectivity.
