New Update

The DXMP-1600 provides secure connectivity between multiple networks over leased or dial-up line. It’s a flexible product in which you can add connectivity modules as your network grows. You can make/receive VOIP calls on your data network. It has built-in security to protect your LAN from unauthorized access. If you have two WAN links, then you can use it to create a reserved backup link. It will automatically switch to this link in case the primary goes down.

The product we received had two WAN slots, out of which one was filled with WAN module. There’s a 10 Mbps Ethernet port, and a separate VOIP module. The router has to be configured using HyperTerminal, and its command line interface supports the default router commands, so it can be configured easily. There’s also a detailed user guide that explains the commands. Unfortunately, the Web based management interface wasn’t as expected. It merely launches a command line interface.

It has a 32 MB SDRAM, which can be extended to 64 MB. It also has 8 MB flash memory, which can be extended to 16 MB. The router supports both V.24 and V.35 modes for WAN connectivity. Here, V.24 mode uses RS232 connectivity and V.35 uses a V2.4/V3.5 switch cable. On the routing front, it supports all standard routing protocols such as RIP V1/V2, OSPF, BGP, DDR and IGRP. It also supports SNMP. For VOIP, it supports H.323, H.225, H.245, RTP, RTCP with voice codecs G.711, G.723 and G.729. The device has a built-in DHCP server. It can also do IP filtering to restrict users from accessing the WAN link based on IP address, HTTP or FTP traffic. You can even configure this device for on-demand bandwidth allocation with two WAN link modules.
