The book covers all issues related to the subject such as standards and algorithms for voice encoding. It also deals in detail with VoIP signaling protocols such as H.323, MGCP and SIP. One full chapter is dedicated to quality of service capabilities on IP networks, which is a major factor holding back large-scale VoIP deployments.
Although, the book covers all the technologies related to VoIP, it doesn’t have in depth analysis about them, as its focus is more on deployment. It does, however direct you to other sources for further reading on specific technologies. What’s more the book also gives a snapshot of how to deploy VoIP over wireless networks, which is basically VoIPOW (VOIP over Wireless). The book is meant for serious reading.
