The Department of Agriculture, Govt of Kerala has a wide network of officers

upto the panchayath level. Each Agricultural Extension officers are responsible

for handling the agricultural extension services in their respective panchayaths.

But most of these services were done manually and there was no such ICT enabled

agricultural information management or extension services in place. KISSAN (Karshaka

Information Systems Services and Networking) was conceived, developed and

managed by the Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management, Kerala

for the Deptt of Agriculture, Govt of Kerala.

The core deliverables of the project is an integrated multi-component,
multi-modal delivery of agriculture information services system that is

accessible anywhere anytime by all concerned. The project had been providing the

service of KISSAN KERALA portal (www. kissankerala.net) with several lakhs of

visitors.
