Dewan Housing Finance Corporation - Datacenter Outsourcing and Managed Services

The Problem: DHFL's complete operation is running on an in-house developed application software. It needed to ensure that its primary data center was always up and running. Also, secured IT infrastructure was required to support the growing needs of business operations. The enterprise was looking for an implementation partner that could provide end to end solution while managing the risk of outsourcing its primary data center.

The Solution: The company adopted practices for managed resiliency and security services which included datacenter hosting, managed security and 24x7 monitoring through Global Monitoring Center. To achieve high levels of security (from spam, online threats,etc), Symantec's cloud based solution - Message Lab's Email Safeguard has been deployed. Also, multiple firewalls & intrusion prevention systems managed by IBM Managed Security Services has been implemented.

The Result: The move enabled the enterprise to shift from the capex to opex business model and helped it restrict upfront investment on IT infrastructure. Besides, it managed to overcome an actual disaster in November, 2010, when a fire broke out at its building where in-house datacenter was hosted.
