STARLIMS
will be implemented for use in the entire network of the PathLabs
consisting of the National Reference Lab (NRL) in New Delhi,
approximately 100 satellite labs and 1,000 collection centers all
over India. The main solution will be installed at its hub at the
National Reference Laboratory at Rohini, Delhi.

Dr Lal PathLabs
tests in the region of 21,000 patients daily at NRL which is equipped
with state-of-the-art technologies, laboratory professionals, spread
over 85,000 sq. ft., providing some of the fastest turn-around-times
(TAT) in the industry. Dr Lal PathLabs performs over 30 million tests
annually and STARLIMS will be used to manage the entire testing life
cycle – from sample login to reporting.

Knowing
that our legacy system was being phased out, we searched for a new
information management solution that would guarantee the reliability
and quality of each test we perform, in every lab discipline.
STARLIMS can do all that, while also enhancing our communications
with our laboratories and sample collection sites across the
country,” said the Chairman and Managing Director, (Hony) Brig. Dr.
Arvind Lal.

Flexible
Configuration Supports a Comprehensive Suite of Tests

As
the largest diagnostic testing provider in India, Dr Lal PathLabs has
a comprehensive range of over 2,100 tests and panels including
hundreds of tests in areas ranging from hematology to molecular
diagnostics. STARLIMS was selected in part for its diverse
functionality for disciplines such as chemistry, cytogenetics and
genetics. Another important factor was STARLIMS’ flexible platform,
which will enable Dr Lal PathLabs to easily configure the LIMS to
match each one of its hundreds of protocols.

Web-based
LIMS Expedites Deployment and Remote Data Access

STARLIMS
is a web-based LIMS that offers convenient company-wide deployment
with no need for client-side downloads. This will facilitate a smooth
transition as Dr Lal PathLabs deploys STARLIMS to replace the
Centricity Ultra Laboratory Information System (LIS) that is being
discontinued by GE Healthcare. It also means that information will be
instantly available throughout Dr Lal PathLabs’s wide-ranging
network, which includes sample collection in health centers,
hospitals, Labs and Collection Centers throughout India.
