New Update

Here are two wireless connectivity options for the clients. One is a PCMCIA card for laptops, while the other is a USB based card that can be used by laptops or desktops. Both can connect to wireless LANs in ad hoc or infrastructure modes, support 64/128 bit-WEP for security and work on all versions of Windows. The devices are very easy to install, and have integrated antennae.

On the software front, the devices have a wireless LAN monitoring utility, which makes it easy to configure and shows a lot of useful information. It has seven tabs with various options. The ‘monitor’ tab shows you signal strength, link quality, operating mode, radio channel numbers used for networking in ad-hoc mode, and SSID. You can also select from available transmission rates. Under encryption, you get to configure WEP, and select the authentication mode.

Other tabs provide information about driver version, allow you to enable international roaming, wherein you can select the channels, which can be used in different countries etc. You can also create different profiles with varying settings that can be very useful if the card is used on a shared machine. Other useful statistics provided by this utility are the number of packets transmitted or rejected.
