This action not only ends the games' online experiences, but it also takes them down from digital stores, where they will no longer be available for purchase. Over time, the number of players in some online games has decreased. However, fans of these well-known games will be impacted by the most recent lockdown.

Which games will still be available on PC?

Four of those games, including Battlefield Bad Company 2 and Dead Space 2, were still available on PC until EA shut down its online service. It is also important for players to note that some of these games can no longer be purchased from digital stores either.

What reactions has seen among users around globe?

According to the OPP report, the effects of the shutdown affected the dedicated communities that formed around these games. For example, Dead Space 2 players organized game sessions and created a sense of camaraderie in the game's multiplayer.

The Dead Space 2 Necroposting Discord group even came together to celebrate their shared experiences and document their final moments playing online.  Another Reddit user shared a video of the final seconds of Battlefield Bad Company 2's Vietnam match. In that match, the game suddenly cuts to black and Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Lucky Boy" starts playing.

This video captured the nostalgia that comes with the end of the online gaming era. In 2023, these games reportedly did not have a successful player base, and this may be the reason why EA discontinued their online service. The shutdown also serves as a reminder of the deadness of online gaming experiences.
