New Update

The version we received for review was Easy Life Professional 2.0 licensed for five users. Five users is a bit misleading, though. The application is installed on one PC and all the users have to access the application on that PC itself.

We had to try the software on a couple of systems before we could finally install it, as it gave runtime errors during installation (this error was present even when we reviewed Easy Life 1.1).

With this software you can record almost everything concerning your finances. For instance, you can track your bank accounts, investments and savings, insurance, shares and properties and calculate your income-tax returns. It also interlinks this information and presents it in the form of reports. Being India specific, the software lets you print IT related forms like

Saral.

You can keep track of your bank accounts, investments, savings, shares and properties

It also lets you set reminders. For instance, if you have an NSC policy maturing on a particular date, it automatically picks up that information from your assets database and informs you of it. It can also print and export e-mail and reports on your Net worth, income and expenses and other categories that you may use for analysis in the packages. E-mail, for example, can be created and sent through Outlook (only Outlook is supported).

The software’s address book works in conjunction with all the user information that you enter anywhere in the software. Using the address book, you can categorize your contacts, map an entire organization and include multiple office locations and home addresses.

Besides these, the software also stores your personal information that may come handy when filling out certain forms like

driving license and passport numbers. Data can be marked as sensitive, and you can delete all sensitive data at one go. Also, you get an option of backing up and restoring your data.

On the flip side, the software has a clumsy look and feel. The color of the interface is a strange shade of orange. There are quite a few grammatical mistakes in the various messages as well. Easy Life works on the principle of a new window for every form you open. These windows are tabbed within the software. The number of windows that can be simultaneously opened is 12. The software slows down as you open more windows.

The Bottom Line. Easylife 2.0 is a good sequel to Easy Life 1.1, but has a long way to go.
