RRealTrack is meant to give its customers the real time information about the
delivery of their consignment. Earlier the information was updated at the end of
the day which was not at all accepted by the customers, and also resulted in
loss of reputation of the organization. Hence they needed a more robust and real
time application which could be easily updated in real time. This project helped
in resolving these challenges. In this case the delivery staff is provided with
a hand held device which will be have the address, where to deliver the
consignment. And when the consignment is delivered, the delivery staff can
update the status of the delivery. For training and support they partnered with
Bharti Airtel, else rest of the project was done in-house.
During the course of deployment the major challenge was to train the employee
of the organization. Apart from this they have to face the cost factor for both
the device and cost per transaction. But as the price of such devices keeps on
decreasing, They decided to purchase them. They also faced some technical
challenges. As the device is connected over GPRS, there are some places where it
did not work.
The key benefit they got was that the customers could now have visibility of
information as soon as delivery happens. This created loyalty and also increased
revenue. In the near future, they will implement GPS enabled devices so that it
will be easier for delivery staff to locate the delivery address.
