A new social media app is here now and it is Indian. Elyments is so Indian that as an Indian I don’t even know I needed an app like this until now. Imagine an app that combines Facebook, Whatsapp, Instagram, and UPI together in one ecosystem. That is what Elyments represents. A new way of social networking that is just for Indians. After the ban on Chinese apps by the Government and a push for Indian app developers to make secure Indian apps it seems that we are in for some good treats. Elyments is made by Sumeru Software Solutions which is an IT company in Bangalore and with the help of over 1000 Indian IT professionals under the umbrella of Art of Living foundation.

What is Elyments?

Elyments is a social media networking app at its core. It borrows elements (pun intended) from Facebook, Whatsapp, and Instagram for the social networking aspect. It also has UPI built-in which makes it one of a kind social networking app in India. To put it in perspective Line is a huge social networking app in Japan that lets users in Japan do everything from ordering food to texting friends and sharing photos all in one platform. In South Korea, the app is Kakaotalk which does the exact same thing. For a long time, India which has the highest number of mobile users has lacked an app that did everything and was made in India. Indians have depended on Facebook, Twitter, Whatsapp, Instagram for their social media needs but that may be changing as of now.

Elyments- The super app

To say that Elements is a super app is not incorrect. The app has three different sections called Hub, Social, and Chat. It is self-explanatory what each of them represents but we’ll expand on them.

  • HUB: The hub part of the app acts like your newsfeed on Facebook. You get basic information in a feed form that is related to News, Fashion, tech, and others. Since the app is in development still it will take time for Hub to get fully functional but we think that once done the Hub will give all the information that users want to see in one place.
  • Social: As the name suggests the Social section of the app is the feed of your friends. If they upload photos or share some article it will come on Social.
  • Chat: You Chat in this section. That’s it. It’s simply Chat.

To Signup on Elyments users need a mobile number. You can download the app from here. As of now, Elyments has no dedicated website but with time it will get all of those. It is still in the early stages of development.

Is Elyments Secure?

As of now, the Elyments developers claim that the app has hardware-based encryption technology and all the user’s data is being stored in servers that are in India. There are settings in the app that users can tweak according to their liking and decide what they want to be shared with third-party apps. Just like Facebook or any other social media platform Elyments will have the basic user information that users put in like their DOB, Name, etc. The privacy policy of Elyments is very strict and makes sure that any third-party app that tries to steal user information can be legally liable.
