LCD monitors is the only enterprise hardware segment where all major players
have either lost or gained over their previous positions in the Users' Choice
Club. The inconsistency is a direct indicator of how competitive this segment
has been over the year. The winner of the segment this year is LG, jumping two
places from last year's 3rd position. Samsung has again fallen behind LG to 2nd
spot. Also, HP is down to 3rd place from its previous 2nd position. Again Acer
and HCL have swapped last year's position to settle down at 4th and 5th places,
while ViewSonic jumps incredibly to the 6th spot from the 12th position last
year.

LG moving to No. 1 from last year's 3rd, has forced Samsung and HP to lose a place each. |
Future Brand Preference Reasons |
![]() |
LG scores the highest on brand appeal, HP tops on reliability while Samsung is the best in after sales support. |
With the highest TOM recall and current brand ownership, LG has been the
winner across all industry verticals. The accomplishment is further highlighted
by the fact that LG was not leading even a single industry vertical in 2009 when
the war was on between Samsung and HP for the same. The presence of Acer and
ViewSonic is quite visible in the BFSI vertical. Geographically, LG outshines
all other major players in north and east. HP leads the south zone and Acer is
the most preferred in west.
Brand Loyalty 2010 vs 2009 |
![]() |
LG, Samsung, HP and Acer have higher brand loyalty % this year but HCL's is dipping. |
Looking into the reasons for future brand preference, LG scores the highest
on brand name compared to HP and Samsung. HP tops on reliability of product as
the reason. Samsung is the best in after sales support and service.
LG emerges on top with 89% brand loyal owners, which is up 35% from last
year. Samsung's brand loyalty of 72% is also a high from previous year but an
expected shift out of 28% to other brands is a concern. HP has a brand loyalty
of 79% with 3% expected to shift out to LG and another 3% to Samsung in the near
future.
