New Update

A highlight of this DMP is its print support for various Indian languages. It also comes with both a serial and a parallel port, which let you connect two computers to it simultaneously. You need to adjust the printer to Auto interface mode and it automatically switches to the interface from where a print command was given. Installing the printer is simple, although understanding the functions on its control panel takes time. You can control the font, pitch and paper feed functions from the control panel. The printer has a 24-pins head and supports a maximum resolution of 360 x 360 dpi. We tested it using 136 columns continuous stationary as well as multi-part (two sheets with carbon in between) continuous stationary and measured the print speed. To test its Indian language support, we printed documents in Hindi on A4 sheets, using a variety of font sizes and styles only to find that it prints all characters very clearly, and even the smallest font sizes were easily readable. In multi-part stationary printing, it managed to clearly print on the second sheet even in draft printing mode. Print speeds were slightly lower than the rated specs though. We got 176 CPS (Characters Per Second) at 10 cpi, 242 cpi at 12 cpi and 284 CPS at 17

cpi.

The Bottom Line: Overall, a good buy.
