The Epson Perfection 1200 (Rs 13,950 for 1200U; Rs 16,575 for 1200S; Rs 14,150 for 1200U Photo, Epson India, Bangalore, The Epson 1200 is a flatbed, single-pass color scanner. It uses CCD technology and scans at a resolution of 1,200×2,400 dpi. It’s available in three models–Epson Perfection 1200U, Epson Perfection 1200U Photo, and Epson Perfection 1200S. 

Of the three, the first two are USB models and support USB-ready Power Macintosh G3, iMac (8.1 or later), and Win 98 systems. The third is a SCSI scanner and supports Win 95/98/NT, and Macintosh 7.5 or later.

All the models are easy to use, and ship with a CD-ROM (with bundled software) and an Epson scanner basics guide. In addition, the USB models come with USB cables and the SCSI model with a SCSI cable and SCSI card.

The accompanying CD-ROM includes a variety of software, like Adobe PhotoDeluxe for enhancing, modifying, and organizing images; Broderbund’s PrintShop Press Writer for creating eye-catching business pieces, NewSoft Presto, etc. 

Apart from this, the Epson Perfection 1200U Photo comes with a transparency adapter for scanning 35 mm slides, negatives, and 4”x5” transparencies. It also includes the Epson Instant Photo Print software that makes it easy to send scanned images directly to an Epson printer. 

All the models support push-button scanning. The push button on the front panel of the scanner launches the relevant scanning program and lets you scan images and text documents into your favorite application. You can even fax or e-mail images and documents. 

Overall, the Epson Perfection 1200 gives good quality scans at fast speeds and comes with a warranty of one year.
